My freshman year of college was a time for me to find out who I was. And play football. I enjoyed the football and partying with my friends, but my classes suffered. Inside I struggled and I couldn’t figure out why. I called myself a Christian, but I wasn’t allowing God to speak to me. I thought I had all the answers.
I’ve had some tough years. My wife and I were in an accident that left forty percent of her body burned. I had a potentially career ending leg injury. That was when I began to realize that maybe God was using adversity to bring me closer. Maybe I needed His help. I prayed to Him to come into my life and help me be committed to Him.
I started reading the Bible and came across scriptures that helped me understand what God was trying to do in my life. My wife and I learned to trust God to get us through the tough times. Now that I am actively pursuing a closer relationship with God, He continues to bless me and my family more than we could ever ask. He took me from thinking that I had all the answers and didn’t need any help, to someone who needs more of God — and less of me.
